I am an experienced communicator
with nearly 20 years of specialization in design, writing, and digital marketing.

Effective communication requires successful problem-solving.

Good communication offers creative solutions for organizing and presenting information in ways that are appealing and easily understood. My objective is to connect with my audience in the clearest, most efficient, and most effective way possible.

My background and skill sets include digital marketing, web design, print design, writing, editing, proofreading, research, video editing, and photography. Creating visual and written order out of information chaos is satisfying work for me, and an end result that successfully communicates is a job well done.

When I’m not working, I enjoy time with family and friends, and I love being outdoors. Hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, traveling, photography, and watching Formula 1 racing with my teenage son are some of my favorite activities.

Public Information Officer and Website Coordinator

Write and issue news releases through GovDelivery and MailChimp. Track media mentions and write tracking reports. Respond to media inquiries and public records requests with input from subject matter experts at the Tax Commission. Maintain and update content on the Tax Commission and My School Choice websites. Work with subject matter experts to add new website content. Coordinate with external vendors to improve website ADA compliance. Proofread and edit forms and instructions. Create and post social media content and graphics. Write internal communications articles. Design, produce, and edit publications and presentations for internal and external use, including the Tax Commission’s annual report. Assist in developing displays, exhibits, and educational information. Follow agency style guide and plain talk requirements in written communications.

Scheduled and conducted mandatory re-employment assessment interviews. Determined eligibility and explained qualifications for programs and services. Provided quality customer service in person and via phone, email, and online chat. Documented information in written plans and reports that adhered to IDOL standards. Assisted emotional, challenging, and confrontational people and individuals from varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Made small group presentations to the public explaining IDOL services. Proofread and reviewed re-employment assessment interview plans of co-workers. Drafted, reviewed, and posted job listings for government and private employers. Marketing Coordinator and Graphic Designer

Prepared proposals for infrastructure and consulting-related opportunities as part of a marketing team. Wrote, edited, and proofread marketing proposal content. Developed and coordinated graphics and images, and designed layouts. Collaborated on documents with various individuals and a wide range of personality types. Managed multiple concurrent proposals and activities, including assembling an internal team, scheduling and facilitating milestone review meetings, directing and assuring follow-up actions, and producing final submittals to meet deadlines. Evaluated technical content to ensure our proposals met all requirements and complied with evaluation criteria in Request for Proposal documents.

Graphic Designer, Editor, Writer, and Web Designer

Designed covers, spreads, and layouts for magazines, booklets, and flyers. Created original ads and ads based on written or verbal instructions from clients. Operated a large in-house printer that folded, saddle-stitched, and trimmed magazines and booklets. Edited and proofread magazine articles submitted by other writers for length, quality, and content. Researched and wrote informative articles for our target audience. Built the original company website with HTML and CSS. Rebuilt the original company website (several years later) on WordPress. Maintained the company website with regular updates and the addition of interactive content such as surveys and social media.
